Unlike regular watches, having to charge our smartwatches could be tiring. Sometimes you could even forget to. The new PowerWatch X smartwatch that can be charged with your body heat solves that problem! Pretty innovative.
The PowerWatch X was announced yesterday (January 8, 2018) with a very special feature. Something no other smartwatch company have on their products, and something they probably haven’t thought of.
The PowerWatch X is a smartwatch you need not charge!
Actually, like every other electronic or electrical device, it needs to be charged. Not with solar power or electricity (it doesn’t even come with a charger), but with your body heat.
Now, how amazing is that?!?
Although there was an old version of the smartwatch that was released in 2016, you probably didn’t hear about it because Matrix didn’t get things right with the smartwatch. Asides having the special capability to be charged by your body heat, it lacked basic (and high-end) features that majority of smartwatches that time had. This prompted the Matrix to go back to the kitchen and the amazing PowerWatch X has been served! How delicious.
New additions to the PowerWatch X include Bluetooth notification, synchronization compatibility with Android and iOS platforms, a new rugged look, waterproof ability and more other features that will be highlighted in subsequent paragraphs.
The PowerWatch X specs place it in a somewhat versatile position where it can be used as a sports watch, worn for fashion and even to formal functions.
For the sports savvy, the PowerWatch X is not affected by whatever amount of sweat, rain or swimming pool water it is subjected to. It is designed to resist up to 200m deep of water without alterations in functions.
Charging the PowerWatch X using body heat is awesome, but being able to last up to 2 years is much more awesome!
Also, the PowerWatch X has a one-of-a-kind battery conserving mode which triggers the device into idleness without draining any power. Let’s say you leave the take the smartwatch off your hands on 50% power, you are left with the same 50% battery power whenever you pick the watch back up and place on your wrist. Be it after 3 weeks, 5 months or 2 years. The battery life stays intact, as long as it’s off your wrist. The PowerWatch X using body heat is awesome, but being able to stay up to 2 years is much more awesome!
And yeah, you might be wondering, “What happens to information being stored on the watch during this period of battery saving idleness?” Well according to AndroidHeadlines, that is nothing to worry about because;
“The watch stores your data in its memory the moment you take it off so that it goes right back to where it was when you put it on again”
Now that’s one smart piece of tech that’s worth my wrist’s real estate.
The Powerwatch X was recently announced at the ongoing CES 2018 event in Las Vegas which has over 3,900 brands exhibiting new cutting-edge technological products. Matrix says the Powerwatch X is now available for $249.99 on pre-order only and shipping is also expected to commence in January.
