Brace up! The BlackBerry KeyOne Bronze Edition is returning.
When information about BlackBerry’s downfall hit the net sometime in September 2016, the news was welcomed with so many reactions.
Well, months later, the smartphone brand got back into the production game and now, it seem the smartphone giant is zooming back to its spot at the top… with full force!
You may not know, but according to sales stats and figures, the BlackBerry KeyOne was a huge success for the BlackBerry brand in 2017. And this success, just like every other kind of successes, have in turn triggered BlackBerry to do more in 2018.
It is in this light that the brand will kick off its 2018 campaign with a Bronze Edition of the BlackBerry KeyOne.
The BlackBerry KeyOne was initially launched in Black and Solver colours. The two variants surpassed BlackBerry’s sale projection, hence the release of this special bronze edition.
BlackBerry’s Global Head of Device Portfolio, Gareth Hurn associated the unexpected demand of the BlackBerry KeyOne to the return of the keyboard on devices. Speaking to DigitalTrends, he said;
The keyboard helped bring people back to BlackBerry, but it was the longer battery life that impressed many of them.
Unlike every other BlackBerry devices in the past, the BlackBerry KeyOne had a very special type of keyboard – a capacitive touch 4-row keyboard. Each key on the keyboard can be assigned their individual shortcuts which brought about ease of usage, making it seem like a touchscreen.
The battery capacity of the KeyOne was also amazing. The device comes with a 3,505mAh battery and Quick Charge version 3.0 which gives up to 50% of charge in just 36 minutes.
It isn’t clear yet if the upcoming Bronze Edition of the KeyOne would feature any special feature that previous versions lacked but Gareth did admit that there are plans to make the Keyboard even better.
There are some things that could still be done even better, and we’re excited to evolve the keyboard further.
So perhaps, in addition to Android Nougat OS, 4.5 inch display, Corning Gorilla Glass 4, 6GB of RAM, Octa-core 2.0GHz processor, Fingerprint sensor, Dual SIM support, 12 MP primary camera and 8MP secondary camera, the BlackBerry KeyOne Bronze Edition could launch with a refined keyboard.
The BlackBerry KeyOne Bronze Edition has a proposed release date of March 2018 and a speculated price tag of $550. The device would be sold widely across the Middle East, Asia and Europe due to the higher demand of Dual SIM smartphones in such regions.
